Hello everyone! Word play cafe made a trip to unscruz this weekend, and currently Toto’s Africa is playing and I’m thinking of all of you!
We are at the San Benito County Fairgrounds, and are surrounded by the magic usually only seen on playa! For this regional event we teamed up with Puzzle Place and set up shade, tables and word games and puzzles in a tiny camp along the esplanade. We have had hundreds of visitors of all ages, and it has been tremendous fun.
The weather is beautiful, there are shady groves of trees that people are camping under. There’s a goblin camp down the way that has set up root vegetable skeeball. Serpent mother is breathing fire, coiled around her egg in the nearby arena. Paraluna is off in a quiet space, playing moving classical music and enticing folks to rest below.
Earlier today teams of two participated in the Kentucky Disturby, saran wrapped at the waist, the front teammate blinded in an ill fitting horse mask, the sighted jockey silenced by a bit in their mouth. They raced around a track, surrounded by revelers clad in amazing derby hats.
This event is so amazing, full of burners looking for an outlet for their creativity and lust for interactivity and participation. Now that I hear Toto I can confidently say, this place feels like a home away from Home.
